Scottish invitational side the Bovril Boys won the Millom Sevens in Cumbria at the weekend.
This was the team’s third year attending the event and after coming runners-up last year, they were determined to go one better.
Dylan Russell from the side said: “The weather wasn’t in our favour, after selecting a side who were quick and skilful with ball in hand we were disappointed to see the forecast was torrential rain and wind all morning.
“It didn’t lie either as the sky’s of Haverigg opened up throughout the whole tournament only calming down for our last two games against Workington and Millom firsts, which we knew would be our toughest two fixtures.
“This allowed us to play the champagne rugby we promise to deliver and win the tournament, only conceding two tries. I think I speak for all the boys when I say we’re chuffed to pick up our first trophy and with the performance throughout.”
The Bovril Boys have now been invited to the Wigton Sevens on July 2 which they are planning to attend and hoping to add more silverware.
Then it is off to the Stockholm 10s in August which will round off their season.
