New Edinburgh Rugby prop Darryl Marfo has praised the coaching team for the way they have helped him and the whole squad hit the ground running during pre-season.
The loosehead, 26, has joined from English Premiership side Bath after a long spell with Harlequins and a brief spell at London Welsh.
Given that the likes of Head Coach Richard Cockerill, Assistant Forwards Coach Roddy Grant and Defence Coach Calum MacRae are new to the Capital club it may have taken them time to get their message across – but they have been on the money from the off.
“It’s obviously my first pre-season at the club and coming up here I would have thought the coaching team across all departments had been here for a number of years in the way which they communicate with each other and all seem to be on the same page,” Marfo said.
“It’s all seamless when they’re doing stuff on the pitch it’s really impressive. They must put a lot of hard work into that because it doesn’t just happen by chance.
“I’m really enjoying life at the club so far. We have great facilities here at BT Murrayfield and a great group of players and backroom staff who have all made me feel welcome from the start.
“Everyone is working very hard to be on top of their game across all departments – so far, so good.
“I’ve not seen too much of the city since arriving. I’ve been here a few times when I was younger as my uncle lives in Edinburgh.
“The city seems really nice. I’m staying in Ayr at the minute, but once I move over to Edinburgh in a couple of weeks, I’ll explore it in a bit more in depth.”
