Greenock Wanderers ladies travelled to the Majorca Beach Rugby tournament for their first tour at the end of April.
With no other expectation other than to have a fun time and enjoy the experience, the girls managed to find themselves in the final of the women’s Shield competition.
After the tense semi-final ending in a draw and going into extra-time for ‘next try is the winner’, Greenock’s centre Caitlyn Haldane made the crucial break through the defence and got that winning try for the girls in red, yellow and black.
The girls travelled to Majorca with a group including Lauren Gunn, Catriona Cowan, Emily Gray, Rachel Morrison, Caitlyn Haldane, Stephanie Wylie and Milissa Montague who all play for their club regularly.
The final saw the girls narrowly miss out to the silverware as they were beaten four tries to three.
Haldane said: “It was an incredible experience and one which I will be recommending to my other team mates back home and to other Scottish women’s teams to enter next year.
“The whole weekend was fantastic, we enjoyed every minute and already can’t wait to return next year, hoping to take home the win.”
