Edinburgh Prepare for Connacht Clash with Key Players Returning

Edinburgh Rugby have issued a squad update ahead of this Saturday’s BKT United Rugby Championship fixture against Connacht at Dexcom Stadium (10 May, kick-off 7.35pm).

There’s positive news for fans as Lewis Wells (ankle) returns to full training, while Tom Dodd (shoulder) is also back in training and remains on course to be fully fit by June.

Ben Vellacott (foot) and Duhan van der Merwe (ankle) are both expected to return during May, offering potential boosts in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Ross McCann (foot) is set to be sidelined until late May, and Dave Cherry (knee) is targeting an early June return.

Following surgery, Robert Carmichael (wrist) is continuing his rehabilitation and is expected back in June. Jamie Hodgson (tricep) and Luke Crosbie (pec) are also not due back until next month.

Emiliano Boffelli (hamstring) and Matt Scott (back) remain week to week as their recoveries continue to be monitored closely.

In longer-term news, Connor Boyle (knee) is not expected to return until September, while Paul Hill (back) will miss the remainder of the season as he continues his rehab.

With a mix of encouraging returns and ongoing injury concerns, Edinburgh will look to navigate a crucial phase of their URC campaign starting this weekend in Galway.
