Scottish refereeing will be strongly represented this summer, as three of the nation’s top officials head into a series of high-profile international appointments.
Hollie Davidson is once again making history. Already a trailblazer in the game, she will referee her first full tier oneinternational when South Africa face Italy at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria this July. The appointment follows her Springboks debut last year when she took charge of their clash with Portugal.
Davidson won’t be alone in flying the Saltire on the international stage. Mike Adamson and Sam Grove-White are also set for busy summers, with all three officials involved in the upcoming England XV v France XV fixture at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium on 21 June. Davidson will be in the middle, with Grove-White on the touchline as assistant referee, and Adamson operating as the TMO.
Grove-White will also step up as lead referee for USA v Belgium on 5 July, continuing his rise through the international ranks. That same day, Adamson will reprise his dual role of TMO and Foul Play Review Officer (FPRO) in Argentina’s clash with England.
Scottish Rugby’s High Performance Match Official Manager, Andy Macpherson, praised the trio’s continued development:
“Every international window represents an opportunity for our officials to gain more valuable experience at the top level.
Hollie is a continual record-breaker and we are proud of her ongoing achievements.
Sam is progressing quickly and his appointment to the USA match against Belgium is just reward for his performances this year.
Mike has already gained Six Nations experience as a TMO and to be involved at the top level once again is what he deserves given his dedication and the way he has officiated URC matches this season.”
